Sam grew up outside Chicago but always felt most at home in the outdoors. He went to the University of Oregon, studying Business Administration, but his biggest academic accomplishment was completing my honors thesis titled “Enhancing Diversity and Inclusivity in the Outdoors,” which explored how outdoor companies can better market to and support underrepresented communities, including people of color, women, and individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, he’s had experiences leading multi-week backcountry trips at Adventure Treks with teens across the Pacific Northwest, Northern California and British Columbia, where he built a strong foundation in leadership, logistics, and inclusive programming. His passion for helping others access the outdoors was solidified while guiding students of all backgrounds through new and challenging environments. Thus, Sam was drawn to Challenge Aspen’s mission of adaptive recreation and the opportunity to work with this incredible community.
