Deb
Sullivan

REC Program Director
Since my graduation from high school, I have been working in outdoor recreation, starting at a summer camp in Northern Colorado. From there I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in physical education and finally a master’s in sports administration/business management. While at school in Bellingham, Washington I discovered sailing, then went on to become an athlete on the US Sailing Team and a co-founder of Sail Sand Point, a non-profit sailing center in Seattle. One of the fun stops on my way to Challenge Aspen was Bermuda where I acted as the Director of Sailing for the small country. While sailing is still close to my heart, I usually teach at least one adaptive instructor certification course each year and love being back in Colorado. Sharing my passion for the outdoors has always been a huge part of why I do what I do. I feel especially lucky to create and share the love of skiing, biking, rafting, and other mountain sports with people with disabilities.

If I were an animal, I would be…

A baby goat – I could eat anything, and it would be fun to jump all over things, especially people trying to do yoga

When I’m not working, I’m happiest…

Hanging out with my dog, on walks, drives, and just layin’ around.

My hidden talent or interest is…

Something that is becoming more and more rare… I can drive a manual transmission and would be happy to teach others.
