REC Department Updates

Winter Report:

We’re off to a phenomenal start to the season. The snow has been great so far but we can always use more…so THINK SNOW! In camp news, the Tennessee School for the Blind brought out their senior class in early December to ski with Challenge Aspen for the 15th consecutive year. After 3 days of skiing, a snowshoeing adventure, and a trip to Glenwood Hot Springs, we sent 8 students and 4 chaperones back to Nashville with memories that will last a lifetime! It was an incredible group and we can’t wait to welcome the newest class of seniors next December! Check out the highlights of our TSB adventure here. We will be welcoming 8-10 athletes for our 17th Annual Mono0Ski Camp from January 12-17th. We’ll follow that up with our 17th Annual Visually Impaired Ski and Snowboard Festival in February, then two brand new programs for those with autism and one new program for those with traumatic brain injuries in March. We have a few spots available for each of those camps and more information can be found here.

Summer Report:

Dates are set for 2014 Summer Camps here at Challenge Aspen. Spots are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. More information can be found here.

Summer Internships: Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Summer Adaptive Sports Internship. The deadline for the 2014 Summer Adaptive Sports Internship is 12:00am (midnight MST) on Friday, January 1, 2104. We are looking for anyone interested in working with individuals with disabilities in an outdoor setting. Experience in working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required. All interns will receive multiple weeks of intensive training at the commencement of the internship. The internship will run from May 27th – August 15th. Happy Holidays, everyone…and remember that YOU CAN make possibilities for people with disabilities wherever you are!
